Our Pacific Heights Park Place homeowners lived in their home for many years before making any upgrades. While the home needed some work, they were drawn to the property for it’s great location and clear potential. The kitchen had a good amount of space, but it was chopped up with two different entrances and multiple dead zones with wasted space. The owners wanted to make the space more open and inviting—a space where they could entertain and cook for friends and family.

We started this Hawaii kitchen remodel with some structural renovations. The original space had an oversized pantry that closed off the kitchen from the living and dining area. We removed the pantry and some additional, unnecessary walls to create a more open concept kitchen with an easy flow between the kitchen and dining area. We made sure to still give the homeowners plenty of storage by installing spacious Design-Craft cabinets and a pull-out pantry next to the refrigerator.

We also installed a working island that added plenty of extra prep space, while still keeping the kitchen open and functional. We had to be creative with the island installation since it wasn’t possible to get a single large slab of quartz into the house. Instead, we raised the center section of the island to function as a display area and allow for easy access to electrical outlets. We often select quartz for our kitchen remodels, because homeowners love that it doesn’t require maintenance. We also chose an easy-to-clean porcelain tile for the kitchen flooring.

We installed plenty of great appliances in this kitchen, including a built-in oven in the island, a wine fridge, and a pot filler that pulls out from the wall. Finally, we finished the space off with some sleek matte black and black stainless steel fixtures, adding a bold and modern touch to the kitchen. Our homeowners now have a functional space with an open flow between the kitchen and dining area, making it a perfect spot for entertaining.
