Kapolei Bathroom Remodel

This Kapolei bathroom was in need of some major TLC. The homeowners struggled with a lack of bathroom storage space, inevitably placing their products on any available counter space. Beyond adding some strategic organizational elements to help with the storage issue, we also wanted to spruce up the bathroom to make it a more inviting space for the homeowners. The existing room was dimly-lit and claustrophobic—we wanted to do a 180 and turn the bathroom into a spa-like atmosphere where the homeowners could truly relax.

What’s more relaxing than a sauna? This custom-built sauna is one of our favorite elements we have ever installed in a bathroom remodel. The beautiful wood paneling is a perfect natural element to add to the spa-like feel of the room, while also adding some warmth and depth to the space. To make sure the sauna didn’t dominate the space, we added a custom glass window to the sauna wall, opening up the room.

In addition to the new sauna, we added other natural design elements to make the bathroom remodel feel fresh and tranquil. First, we installed beautiful, modern glass basin sinks on sleek new countertops. We chose a quartz countertop surface with cool, neutral tones to balance out the warm wood tones of the sauna. Plus, the multi-level countertop heights allowed for a taller, custom pull-out cabinet between the sinks to help maximize storage space. We then installed an oversized shower with natural stone surfaces and porcelain tile. To mimic the look and feel of a natural, outdoor setting, we choose a soothing green for the shower’s color palette. We also added body jets and a rainfall showerhead to add to the spa-like ambience.

With the use of these natural yet modern design elements, we turned this bathroom remodel from a dark, claustrophobic room into a relaxing oasis worthy of any five-star hotel.
